The San Diego International Film Festival continues through to Sunday with most of its screenings at Westfield UTC. Today (Friday), at the Olivewood Gardens, chef & kitchenista Aureny Aranda will be Celebrating Cultura con The Kitchenistas. Warwick’s & University of San Diego’s College of Arts and Sciences present acclaimed author Celeste Ng who will talk about her book Our Missing Hearts. The Middle-Earth Ensemble and several belly dancers will perform at Sufi Mediterranean Cuisine. There will be a Royal Diwali Party in Mira Mesa. The Italian film Ariaferma (The Inner Cage) will be shown at MOPA. The all-female Mariachi band Flor de Toloache will perform at the Music Box. Saturday, there will be a Latina Success Conference at SDSU. The House of Turkiye will hold their annual Lawn Program at the International Cottages. At the Chula Vista Center, the first annual Funky Chicanos Music Festival will happen. The House of Korea will present Korea-ful Night celebrating Korean culture. The UN Association of San Diego, in celebration of United Nations Day, will hold a Nourishing Peace event at the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park. The San Diego Italian Film Festival will wrap up with the Ristretto Awards Gala at MOPA. The Comhaltas Fall Ceili Irish dance get-together will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church. At UCSD's Conrad Prebys Music Center, there will be a performance exploring the Art of Improvisation Iranian Contemporary Dance and Music. Spanish pop singer Rafael will perform at The Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre. Sunday, the Oceanside Dia de los Muertos Festival will take place. The House of Puerto Rico will hold their annual Lawn Program at the International Cottages. At Normal Heights Community Dev, Pepele Mendez and Lakshmi Basile will hold a Flamenco Workshop for aspiring singers, dancers, and guitarists. Halluci Nation will perform at the Belly Up. Monday at USD, Vaughn Scribner will discuss his book Merpeople, A Human History. At SDSU's Smith Recital Hall, Mairtin de Cogain will perform Irish music. At the Central Library, bestselling German author Bernhard Schlink will discuss his new book, Olga. On Tuesday, at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, you can join art historian Cornelia Feye for her four-week lecture series exploring famous European Museum Collections. Next Thursday, the Timken Museum of Art will present an online talk on The Beauty of the Flemish Baroque. The Encinitas Library will host a Dia de los Muertos Festival. At UCSD, Fusion: Landscape and Beyond is an artwork presentation that explores the role of memory in imagination and creation through artificial intelligence (AI) and Chinese landscape painting. At UC San Diego Park & Market, the Frida Dreams: Music of the Americas Concert will feature Frida Kahlo's favorite songs. At the brand new Epstein Family Amphitheater, the Hasta La Muerte production will be a multi-dimensional performance filled with Zapateado, dance, song, altares y flores, and will feature new music from Las Cafeteras. Throughout next weekend, the San Diego International Kids' Film Festival will take place at the Schulman Auditorium in Carlsbad. Next Friday, the Piñatas - The High Art of Celebration exhibition will open at Mingei Museum. The theatrical comedy Imogen Says Nothing will begin performances will begin at San Diego City College. Gilbert Castellanos and Irving Flores will team up to perform Latin Jazz at the La Jolla Community Center. Next Saturday and Sunday, the Old Town Día de los Muertos Festival will happen. Next Saturday, the City Heights Dia de los Muertos Festival, the Encinitas Dia de los Muertos Celebration and the Chula Vista Día de los Muertos will all take place. At the Museum of Art, there will be a talk entitled Reinventing The Power of Women Through the Art of Alejandra Phelts. The Blacktronika: Where I Stand Festival will take place at UCSD's Epstein Family Amphitheater. The Indian Fine Arts Academy will present a Carnatic Vocal Concert at the Seaside Center for Spiritual Living. At the Sunshine Brooks Theatre in Oceanside, the Mexihco...The Journey Continues production will take place. The opera El Ultimo Sueno de Frida Y Diego will be performed at the Civic Theatre with additional shows on November 1st, 4th & 6th. At the Worldbeat Center, they will be celebrating Peter Tosh Day with a performance by Kush & Bloodfiyah Angels. Next Sunday there will be a Day of the Dead Celebration at the Old Globe in Balboa Park. The House of Scotland will hold their annual Lawn Program at the International Cottages. There will be a Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Poway. At Patrick Henry High School, the SDSU Wind Symphony and SDSU Symphony Orchestra's Días de los Vivos concert will celebrate Latin American music. Volver (The Comeback) at the Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center is a music and dance production that imaginatively reflects the life stories of the show's director, and the dance company, Tango Lovers. Topping off next weekend's events, there will be a will be a Día de los Muertos Celebration at Rady Shell! Cross-cultural/international-themed theatrical offerings in San Diego include What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank at the Old Globe's Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre (ends Sunday), Chasing Shakespeare at the Community Actors Theatre and Baskerville at Lamb's Players Theatre in Coronado. As mentioned above, Imogen Says Nothing will open next Friday at City College.
